Yoga focuses on developing balance, flexibility, and strength. You’ll calm your mind with relaxation and centering as your lung capacity is increased while you practice pranayama (breathing exercises). Yoga will challenge your muscles and realign your body giving you energy and a strong immune system.
Chair/Standing Hatha Yoga is an accessible form of yoga that adapts traditional poses to a seated and/or supported practice. We will use a mat, a sturdy chair (with no arms), 2 yoga blocks, and a 6-8 ft woven strap (not stretchy) as props, to increase stability, flexibility, strength, and body awareness. Standing yoga poses are foundational, weight-bearing postures that build strength, enhance balance, and increase flexibility and blood flow by engaging the legs, arms, back, core, and glutes. These poses improve posture and circulation and range from steady holds to active, flowing sequences.
This class will be offered online using our Microsoft Teams software; you will need reliable internet service, a microphone and camera to successfully take this class.
